— ‘FRIDAY THE 13TH’ (1980)

i feel like this movie catches so much flack, but i think it’s a slasher masterpiece (other than the snake scene). the cinematography is stunning, the kills are wild, & that final act is legendary. my love for it only increases

— ‘KRAMPUS’ (2015)

a yearly holiday must-watch for me ever since i saw it in theaters. a truly perfect christmas-horror-comedy in my eyes

— ‘MALIGNANT’ (2021)

non-stop chaos from start to finish in the best way. i love pretty much anything james wan, but this is one of his best, in my humble opinion

insidious is a top horror franchise for me, & every entry brings something new to the table. 4 diving deeper into elise’s past is something that felt so necessary but also extremely earned for the character & lin shaye after 1-3

— ‘PSYCHO III’ (1986)

i always mention psycho 2, but i genuinely love all 3 sequels. right after 2 comes 3 in my ranking. such a great entry & continuation of the story. anthony perkins directing it is the icing on the cake!

— ‘YOUR MONSTER’ (2024)

had to include a melissa movie & it felt right to mention my newest favorite. this movie is everything. had me smiling from ear-to-ear one moment, nearly in tears the next. such a comfort romantic comedy-horror

— ‘THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN’ (2014)

one of my favorite remakes. i haven’t even seen the original, but the way that the original is included & utilized in this movie is everything to me. such great vibes & a really fun mystery to follow

— ‘THE FLY’ (1986)

nothing could’ve prepared me for how tragic this movie is. the practical effects are so disgustingly stunning

— ‘THE LOVED ONES’ (2009)

it’s like if carrie & texas chainsaw had a horrifying love child. became an instant favorite whenever i watched it

— ‘AS ABOVE, SO BELOW’ (2014)

forever my favorite found footage horror. the tension & horror elements never fail to genuinely scare me

— ‘CURTAINS’ (1983)

such a fierce slasher that centers an all female cast who play a great set of characters. the mystery is so fun to follow, the horror sequences are fantastic, & the killer’s mask is so unsettling but perfect

— ‘THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE’ (1970)

my favorite argento film & giallo. such a wild rollercoaster ride of a story, & has one of my favorite killer reveals ever!

i watched this for the first time a couple of weeks ago, & i absolutely adore it. some of the most stunning cinematography in modern horror, a great mix of paranormal & slasher elements, & one of my favorite final acts ever. gorgeous

— ‘WATCHER’ (2022)

it only felt fitting that i include watcher after mentioning it. if you know me, you know how much of a hold this movie has on me & had on me back in 2022 especially. i cannot believe maika & chloe are reuniting for a ‘60s-set vampire horror film

— ‘SOMEONE’S WATCHING ME!’ (1978)

one of john carpenter’s most underrated masterpieces. watcher (2022)’s older sister. stunning cast, brilliant tension, & the majority of it takes place in one of my favorite settings: high-rise apartment complex

— ‘THE POOL’ (2001)

forever obsessed with this movie. so goofy with such obvious scream & ikwydls inspirations throughout it, but i love it. i actually really love the group of friends, the kills, & the utilization of the setting. that final act too. slasher excellence in my book

— ‘VISITING HOURS’ (1982)

i love a hospital setting in a slasher, & this one is no exception. plus, we get 3 badass female protagonists. way too under appreciated

— ‘SIGNIFICANT OTHER’ (2022)

i love pretty much any & every (horror) movie that maika monroe stars in, but this one is so extremely underrated. ruth miller is such a badass final girl & also one of maika’s more underrated characters

— ‘BUCTHER, BAKER, NIGHTMARE MAKER’ (1981)

queer, campy, gorey, filled with intriguing characters… everything i need. i had not the slightest clue what to expect from this, & i came out obsessed. i remember key parts reminded me of the ‘bates motel’ pilot episode, which was a huge plus

— ‘THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT’ (2018)

i never get tired of this movie. this one takes the plot of the first & does everything i love to see in my horror/slasher movies. such a BEAUTIFUL atmosphere & camera work. the strangers themselves are great here, kinsey & luke are such bomb final siblings

— ‘THE FIRST PURGE’ (2018)

the best film in the series, in my opinion. had no idea what to expect with this one, & i came out absolutely adoring it. great characters, wild story & gore. it’s just such a good prequel & entry for this franchise

— ‘LIGHTS OUT’ (2016)

i saw this movie in theaters, & i’ve loved it ever since. it holds a special, very dear place in my heart. getting ahold of the deleted/extended scenes in HD last week unlocked my obsession. such a comforting little PG-13 horror flick

instantly & unexpectedly became one of this film’s biggest defenders the very night it dropped, & 4 rewatches later, that hasn’t changed. in fact, i only love it more! forever my favorite entry to this franchise after the original
