Point is I don’t think every study that contributes to solving the biodiversity crisis has to center the crisis itself to find important motivation and to be meaningful. They can center other adjacent problems and be working along the edges in ways that incrementally move us toward better outcomes

To save a dying patient you not only need your surgeon… you need sterile tools, you need vital monitoring, you need specialized lights, you need masks to prevent infection… lots of people working around the edges, making discoveries that are not critical on their own but contribute to the solution

We found ~30% of hotspots are expected to burn at high severity, and of those hotspots the majority were historically exposed to predominantly low severity regimes, indicating a significant mismatch between what the resident biodiversity is adapted to and what it may be exposed to in the future.
