28.02.2026 00:35 — 👍 9 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Point is I don’t think every study that contributes to solving the biodiversity crisis has to center the crisis itself to find important motivation and to be meaningful. They can center other adjacent problems and be working along the edges in ways that incrementally move us toward better outcomes

Where will novel fire regimes threaten birds? Our paper in @natcomms.nature.com shows that most bird diversity hotspots facing future high-sev fire occur in places that historically burned at low severity - a critical mismatch. These are the spots to focus restoration.

The war on protein is over. They’ve replaced fluoride in the drinking water with protein. There is protein infused plochman’s yellow mustard. Your contact lens solution is supposed to remove protein build up but now each squirt contains 5g. Prions are considered added protein, CWD is a myth

This morning I solved a little scripting problem in ~ 10 minutes.
ChatGPT failed to solve it after 40 minutes.
Claude failed to solve it in 20 minutes, then tried to convince me that I wanted to solve a different problem.
This is why we don't let LLMs near any @epic-biodiversity.org code.

When you are making an in-text numbered list do you write it like
1)… 2)…
or
(1)… (2)…
Bar plots showing how avian hotspots are distributed across predicted low and high severity fire.
We found ~30% of hotspots are expected to burn at high severity, and of those hotspots the majority were historically exposed to predominantly low severity regimes, indicating a significant mismatch between what the resident biodiversity is adapted to and what it may be exposed to in the future.
