A rectangular promotional graphic for the useR! 2026 Conference. On the left, large bold text reads β€œuseR! 2026 Conference Warsaw,” followed by the dates β€œ6–9 July 2026” and the location β€œWarsaw School of Economics & Online.” The typography is clean and modern, set against a white background. On the right, a 2Γ—2 grid of four square panels displays a fractal‑style geometric pattern: each square shows a progressively more detailed zoom‑in of a swirling, branching, blue‑and‑purple fractal shape on a light background. Beneath the main graphic, a banner states: β€œThe useR! 2026 Call For Proposals is open until March 8th!” The overall design is bright, mathematical, and visually structured, emphasizing both the conference branding and the CFP announcement.

Happy to release the initial version of ParlAT, an #rstats package wrapping the API of the Austrian Parliament @parlament.gv.at . If you are a researcher, student, journalist, simply someone interested in the AT Parliament, ParlAT hopefully comes as a helpful tool. werkstattcodes.github.io/ParlAT/

Next release of #rstats package usethis will include an (experimental) function to setup projects using Claude code: use_claude_code. Interesting to see how ai tools will form part/play together with the tidyverse & co.

Happy holidays! πŸŽ„ I snuck in a {btw} release just before CRAN went on vacation for the year. {btw} is an #RStats package full of tools for LLMs, including a new tool for running R code. Here's a quick demo using `btw_app()` to create a quick festive ggplot2 from holiday movie titles. Cheers! πŸ§‘β€πŸŽ„

Torture Techniques from CIA Black Sites Were Used at Alligator Alcatraz Amnesty International, interviewing migrant detainees, identifies use of the confinement box. There can be no denying it is a torture prison

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.
