The interior. They've spent a bit on this. New partitions have turned a fairly open-plan L-shaped pub into something that feels altogether grander. The '90s-vintage mahogany bar has been replaced by a pale-oak-and-white-ceramics job.

Last weekend it was the former Against the Grain. Today it's the former 57 The Headline. My ghost will likely haunt both.

Yeah, the North is a whole other deal; a legacy from when they were the biggest beer producer up there. Down here, they're a big "cider" plant with beer tacked onto the side and hoping for the best.

Never liked them myself, but for a worrying amount of people, I&G Original was the gateway into actually-good beer.

Doubt it. It was last tried fairly recently and didn't fly. We don't get Whitewater, Heverlee or much by way of Tennent's either.

People are disappointing in so many ways.

So, this is a stupid joke based on the fact that The Irish Times's pseudonymous business commentary column is called "Cantillon" for reasons far too boring to go into, but unrelated to the Brussels lambic brewery. Today, the column mentioned BrewDog's takeover by Tillray Brands.

You won't often find BrewDog and Cantillon in the same newspaper article. As far as I know, they never collaborated.
