TEXT: The Mechanism wired to his body keeps an otherworldly parasite at bay. An experiment created by the Orocular in one of many attempts to reach “divinity” It successfully holds the parasite in one place, preventing it from eating away at or controlling more of the host’s body. This provides the parasite with less energy than needed at full maturity, demanding the parasite to stay inactive for long periods of time. Vii managed to coordinate a routine with the parasite, having it only wake at night or when woken directly. This allows them to avoid detection, as despite his unique circumstances, knowledge he is a host would put more targets on his head.
TEXT: When active, the parasite often chooses to expose its “face,” as remaining within Vii’s body and its mechanical shell allows it little freedom to move about. Vii avoided acknowledging the parasite at first, but as it became more comfortable with its circumstances and exposing itself to Vii without aggression, Vii decided he needed a way to refer to it directly. This earned the parasite the unaffectionate title of “Thing.” Eventually, coercing Thing with food gave Vii more control over its actions. Even though both of them receive energy from any food Vii eats, Vii assumes it enjoys tasting things. Even though Thing follows commands without direct motivation well, Vii carries a “treat” with him at all times. This “treat” is a large chunk of rock salt it enjoys to lick.
TEXT: Though Vii works to stay agile and capable on his own, he knows the limitations he has in combat against the people and creatures found in the wastelands. The nature of Thing’s species is displayed clearly when it is called upon for combat. It possesses the ability to entangle its host’s body and itself’s into an immensely powerful predator. These creatures have caused widespread damage to the population of human civilizations for centuries, and have never been dealt with for long. Even with its limitations, Thing makes itself into a threatening weapon when necessary. It is versatile in what forms it can take, allowing Vii to make use of it in many scenarios.
