In historic first, Texas House approves private school voucher program The bill would let families use taxpayer dollars for their children’s private schooling. Lawmakers also signed off on a sweeping $7.7 billion package to boost public school funding.

I am heartbroken this morning. www.texastribune.org/2025/04/17/t...

Some lawmakers want to put vouchers on the ballot this November.

We are still #NoOnVouchers no matter what, but if the #TxLege can’t defeat a billionaire-backed push to weaken Lone Star State public schools, then the voters will.

Abbott is airing a pro-voucher panel on TV. It’s a perfect plan because Texas public education workers can’t afford live TV thanks to him.

For insects that glow, artificial light is killing the vibe Recent research shows how artificial light can disrupt courtship among glow-worms and fireflies that rely on bioluminescence to find mates.

Earth Hour takes place at 8:30 p.m. local time Saturday and encourages people to turn off their lights for an hour to raise awareness about the environmental issues affecting the planet.

Artificial light can be a challenge for a subset of species: those that make their own glow.

I urge everyone to call your state legislator to let them know you’re against vouchers and any legislation that takes money from our public schools. And instead, do right by our educators and children and fully fund our public schools.

On March 11, the Trump Administration fired more than 1,300 employees from the U.S. Department of Education (ED) – approximately a third of its workforce.

What’s happening at the department of education could mean I can no longer do the work I love. Please write your representatives. prod.cdn.everyaction.com/emails/van/E...

I just waited 14 hours in Texas to speak against vouchers and meanwhile the federal government did this ensuring I probably won’t have a job next year supporting students in foster care and experiencing homelessness. Get me out of here. And back home to Massachusetts.

I bought a statue of two frogs laughing and drinking wine for my yard and it arrived broken. Twice. So today I glued the frog back on that bench because I knew it would just arrive broken again. If this isn’t a metaphor for America I don’t know what is.

I called my dad to discuss my impending unemployment and his suggestion was that I should apply for disability. Also I can live with him but not with five cats. I suggested a shed in the backyard and he cited zoning laws. I think he thinks I’m joking.
