I will say I had an easier time telling apart the thing and the deliberate imitation of the thing with kinds of writing I regularly read/generally find compelling. For stuff I don’t really care for or seek out, both options seemed kinda mid.

been working on this story for a (very) long time. there’s been a ton of change at sxsw, now owned out of california, over the past year. lot of people who left the company think it’s doomed. current staff insist it’s about to enter a renaissance. i tried to understand how they can both think that.

After decades of “nerd” meaning illiterate technofascists who want to build a sentient robot so they can enslave it, it’s nice to see all of the actual dorks rising up together.

One of the things I love about the resistance movement in the US is how full of nerds it is. We have schoolteachers, lawyers, 3D print hobbyists, zinesters, community journalists, genre fiction writers, anarchists, communists, old school hackers, etc. all standing up for our immigrant neighbors.
