Ah yep! Gilbert! But I didn't know they have those bottom spikes. And it was hard trying to find fossils with the arms preserved
27.07.2025 14:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm working on a video about platyceras and crinoids, so I needed to model some spiny ones as an example of possible adaptations against the snails

work in progress of a crinoid 3D model, this particular one has arms that branch out and split into more arms in a fractal manner, very tedious to model.
Ugh too many arms

Alt: Video thumbnail that shows a 3D render of Mosura (here colored orange with teal eyes). a new radiodont (similar to anomalocaris) with three eyes, and a "tail" consisting of up to 16 body segments with reduced flaps that seems to be more specialized for respiration. blurry dark aquarium BG

I'll be posting more WIPs and behind the scenes of my animations there, and hopefully it'll help me keep making more videos in the future!

Thanks for letting me know about this, even if not a lot of people care about a wrongly reconstructed snail I definitely do haha, so I appreciate the new information

I suppose some of these has a flat enough base/spire that it looks enough like the one in the video
commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Be...
So the flat part of the shell is the one facing up?
I suppose I'll have to be more careful with snails in the future, luckily they don't appear too much in that video

Another top view of Maclurites with the flat base
Reference drawing of Maclurites
It might just be the angle that makes the shape look vague, but I did base them on this Maclurites logani, here's a closer look on the model, it's not super detailed up close because I meant it to be seen further away
05.05.2025 16:30 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There's this Brachiopod video I'm working on and I picked them at random at first
Now I'm stuck with whatever formation they're from and that's how I ended up reading up on Peary Land

05.05.2025 14:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Alt: a video showing 3 meter tall Aulacerid sponges, they look like tapered and twisted Roman collumns because of the longitudinal ridges
Their surroundings are dotted with smaller dome like stromatoporoid sponges and corals as well as 1 meter tall actinocerids, straight shelled nautiloids.
A short I made a while back on the giant Aulacerid sponges in Late Ordovician Peary Land
