This fall I participated in the 2024 World Archaeology Symposium in AlUla, Saudi Arabia. AlUla is an expansive oasis community, and the site of thousands of cultural heritage sites. I helped lead a workshop on the subject of marginalized communities losing and regaining cultural heritage agency.

Too late for my daughter. The pandemic did her in, during year 2-3 of her PhD project. Didn't help that she was working on a topic on epidemiology at a time when half the country wanted to burn epidemiologists and public health professionals at the stake.
