Have I done some not so great things? Yeah. Do I feel uncomfortable about those? Yeah. But I can't feel uncomfortable for something I haven't or would never do.

Anyway, I don't think either of us is likely to change the others mind.

What's happening is awful and can definitely agree on that.

I'm really not uncomfortable. Exasperated by being told that I am when I'm not. It's like being told at Church that you're a sinner and that you need to repent. I don't, I'm a blooming miracle.

I think that as soon as we start to use language which makes sweeping generalisations about a certain demographic we're in trouble. It's what Trump does... I believe that if there is even one voice of dissent in a demographic it should be enough to make the argument invalid.

But again we're lumping people in together. I haven't done any of those things. I think I know what you're saying but it doesn't resonate on any level. Perhaps it should but it doesn't, (no defensiveness there).

OK, but could we say for instance that it's Americans that own the problem? I know that this isn't true either. I just don't think things need to be all or nothing and I think it does very little good to make the distinction. Is it Capitalists? Is it Tech leaders? Billionaires?

I'm not uncomfortable with me. These aren't the decisions that I have made or would make and I'd argue that in that context my point is still valid. We need to call out poor behaviour not witch hunt people because of their gender.

Why has this got to be about gender? Cognitive dissonance, yes. Poor moral judgement, yes. Self serving priorities, yes. Poorly informed decisions, yes.

There are many decent white men who are totally devastated by what is happening in your country. X
