You're a terrific writer with not enough exposure. Don't let a little bad luck and a crap mood change your mind. You just seem to be stuck on the downside of the wheel (as in Boccacio's "Decameron"). Your fortune will turn, my friend.

I'm pleased and proud to announce my short story, "The 4:00 Three-Handed, Double-deck, Cut-throat Pinochle Game" is a finalist in the Saints & Sinners Fiction Contest, meaning at the very least it will be in the festival anthology, and it may yet be a winner or runner-up. Fingers crossed!

Happy 2026, everyone! We've suffered some crushing defeats this year, but it's time for a rebound. Vive le resistance! I'm starting the year out with some publication news but must Vaguebook until The Powers That Be say I can be more specific. But I shall soon be shouting from the rooftops.

The Best of 2025 I don’t always do a year-end Best Of post, but we covered an extraordinary number of good books this year, and I didn’t want to end 2025 without mentioning them yet again. So, in order …

New Revew Monday sums up the year as we look at the Best of 2025, and it's only at Out in Print. We're all you need to read about all you need to read! outinprintblog.wordpress.com/2025/12/29/t...

Each entry in the series seems to dilute the concept even more, sad to say. I liked it, but not as much as the last one--which I didn't like as well as the one before that.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm not exactly a fan of Christmas for a variety of reasons, but I really enjoyed all of these stories, and working on them for 'Nathan was an absolute breeze.

I really think I was. Ten-year-old me was enthralled by the prime-time SF storylines (because there wasn't anything else like it on the air except "Outer Limits," which wasn't in color), but Jeffrey Hunter and the shirtless Kirk made my stomach flutter.

I think Ryan and I need to take a break from each other. Of all his productions, I think this was the thinnest one of all, with the most tenuous grip on reality. I might come back for the next series of American Horror Story, but certainly no more Netflix releases.
