Maybe I'm getting old but seeing the weird zoomer beef brain thing where they can't be responsible for being a little more patient is like, a huge fucking problem.
Oh well.
Since I'm not bothering with this anymore. Especially since StinkyTwinkie52 blocked me for the sake of hiding anyone speaking up for Minty after she was blocked & they weren't bothering with communication with her:
Thanks for some semblance nuance on both sides, at least.
I'd say a few more things but I feel as though that's invasive to Minty's privacy. All I can say is that I did take time to talk to her about it which is something that can't be said for most others in this thread, outside of her partner.
Anyways I'll stop with this.
We can use words like "vague" or whatever for the ToS but as I told someone before the artist told them to expect an update which implies the artist would say something first. Practicing patience is nice in any situation.
29.12.2024 19:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0No offense or anything but this is still on OP for purchasing and agreeing to the ToS. Even if they "don't agree with the practices" they aren't a victim. Ask about terms prior to purchasing, don't step on the artist's boundaries.
The word I'm looking for here is nuance.
I don't agree with you.
Asking an artist for a commission update within a whole week and asking the day after Christmas is still really fucking weird. There's some nuance to it.
And, once again, because I don't care if I sound like a broken record. It's still very weird to bother an artist the day after Christmas.
29.12.2024 18:27 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not what I'm getting at. It adds up to just being patient and waiting for the artist to get to you. Nice reach, though.
Once again, waiting two weeks for a commission isn't bad. Even if we're talking about "scolding" or whatever, my point is that what the artist communicated meant to leave her be.
You even admit that OP cut ties which just solidifies they weren't trying to like, have a conversation or learn from anything. How hard is it for you people to ask questions?
Unless you have valid proof OP tried communicating with them. But I already know anything brought up will be false.
Once again, OP had like 48 hours to apologize or converse with the Minty but suspiciously didn't. So you can't put "teaching" someone on Minty's plate.
That's not her problem. They are not friends, they are complete strangers.
Like I don't get it. You're all nitpicking her ToS but ignore a clear bit of communication. And honestly being told you'll get an update + having a ToS that states to give an artist space go pretty hand-in-hand. Nothing about it is "vague" in this context. Holy hell.
29.12.2024 18:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And this is where the issue really lies, in my opinion. It's a nothing behavior that could have waited until the week ended. Instead OP comes in asking the artist for an update instead of waiting. If the artist says "Expect an update" that usually means the ARTIST WILL CONTACT THEM FIRST.
29.12.2024 18:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0"3. from the first message, twinkie did not expect the commission to be done, maybe not even started."
... Then why message the artist with what is essentially nothing......? What do you get from that? If the artist explicitly tells you to expect an update then that alone tells you to wait.
Maybe it's because you don't frequently buy commissions and maybe I'm a broken record here but asking within a week of getting a commission AND asking the day after a national holiday is still really awful.
29.12.2024 17:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yeah and when the artist made a one week pushback their decisions are called "harsh" and "unprofessional". How is she supposed to feel? Again, a two week wait for a commission isn't even offensive.
29.12.2024 17:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0"Immediately put on a DNI list"
Wrong. OP didn't apologize or try to converse and the DNI thing happened about a day and a half later. Please stop pretending you know the context.
Taking 50% is crude, yeah. But considering the lack of communication on OPs end and them being the first to cast the stones at this point... Hm.
29.12.2024 17:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Artist has stated in private that the OP went completely silent for over 24+ hours, OP didn't apologize or try to reach any form of understanding, and OP was also first to block and make the callout post.
I don't want to hear about "spiteful" behavior.
Unfortunately an artist isn't aware of this until someone points it out. So again, things fall onto the client. If you want "universal understanding" it requires trial and error. Especially if an artist who doesn't have English as their first language.
29.12.2024 17:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Once again, I am asking:
Can you explain in full how pushing back a commission that was ONE WEEK old by another week is some sort of harsh punishment? Two weeks for a commission isn't bad and really emphasizes how impatient OP is, by the way.
OP even states it themself that they were waiting ONE WEEK before asking. Artist pushes it back to another week. Honestly if you can't wrap around how 2 weeks is generous from an artist when again, art can take over a year to complete at times...
Then you're part of the problem, babe.
Also can you PLEASE explain how waiting an extra week is a form of punishment? I usually leave artists to do their own thing because I don't know what their lives are like so I'd like a proper explanation how an extra seven days is so critical here.
Like is someone dying from lack of art or....
Also why does the artist need to explain their standards? If you think it's "vague" or whatever I think it's the customer's job to ask questions.
How hard is it to ask "I'm confused about this rule in the terms of service, can you explain?"
Artist explicitly told the person that they were going to get it done "by next week". I don't know what to tell you but asking on a Thursday, the day after Christmas is really weird.
I agree that waiting until the week has ended would have been appropriate.
