By Attacking Science, Poilievre Takes a Page from Trump’s Playbook | The Tyee Professors find this chilling and warn of the costs.

If elected, Poilievre’s government will “put an end to the imposition of woke ideology in the federal civil service and federal funds for university research.”

The phrase is almost identical to wording used by the Trump administration.

The Private Managed Forest Land Act needs to be rewritten. The 23% of Vancouver Island that is "privately owned" and managed by Mosaic is being deforested and destroyed at a greater rate than is permitted on crown land. No wonder they don't want witnesses.

Outdoor enthusiasts on Vancouver Island are frustrated by the lack of access to backcountry logging roads. But opening the gates is not as simple as it seems. Decades of "unlawful" land grants and privatization have created confusion surrounding ownership.

So many watersheds and riparian areas of the island have been damaged, or decimated, due to the weakness of the Private Managed Forest Land Act and specifically the industrial logging industry working within that act. Congrats to the Xwémalhkwu for securing the funding to start this project.

Here on the west coast, it is a good time to check on a fruit tree if you have one, and maybe do a little pruning in the spirit of future food security, and appreciate the generosity of nature. Spring is coming.

There needs to be greater consequences for driving like this. 131km/hr over the speed limit. Please let the rest of us (who don't intentionally put other lives at risk) know how we can petition for stronger penalties. Impounding the bike for seven days is a joke.
