This is a book review I had never seen before of the book I edited, NEPANTLA FAMILIAS. Thank you, Josh Cook, for a thoughtful read and review. Texas A&M University Press tells me it's a bestseller!

What a terrific group of writers I had at the 2025 Yale Writers’ Workshop-Intensive! They made my year! Cynthia Johnstone, Victoria Hunt, Lisa Ann Dulin, Bruce Parker, Bettina Meade, Pranjal Shirwaikar, Robin Harris. We got so much work done, and I’m proud of them. 😊

I remember my mother today and I miss her. One of the last photos of Bertha Estela Troncoso in her kitchen in Ysleta, a Mexican immigrant who had a near-photographic memory, who cared for her family sometimes at the cost of her own health, and who was an inspiration as a moral force in our family. ♥️

Fun on Broadway watching the British musical Operation Mincemeat, with Laura and Isaac, who is visiting from Chicago. What a funny, fantastic spectacle!

Rest in peace, Jimmy Carter. When I was seventeen in 1978, I wrote a paper analyzing Carter’s presidential campaign victory in 1976. I liked that he was a farmer from rural Georgia, which appealed to me in Ysleta. I admired the work he did even more after leaving the White House. What a good man.
