George HW Bush marveled at a new kind of grocery scanner in 1992 and was pilloried for being out of touch.

Trump β€” who’s repeatedly said you need to show photo ID buying food β€” now insists β€œgroceries” is some obscure term he recovered from the distant past and we’ll just move right along.

Trump is raising your taxes 25% tomorrow.

Raising your cost of living by 25% or more.

Sadly, this is NOT an April Fool's joke

(unless he cuts some other "deal" to delay it a month at the last minute, like some cheap publicity stunt for TV ratings)a

NAACP lawyers traveled to the South and sued for integration even though they were not allowed to sleep in the local hotels.

And today law firms won't sign their name to a brief because they are scared.

That is not my profession.

They’ll never accept it, but everyone who cast a vote for Donald Trump did real, generations-long damage to the United States and the west in exchange for essentially nothing of value.

If you think what happened to Rumeysa Ozturk can't happen to you because you're a citizen and she's not, you are sorely mistaken. Ozturk was snatched off the street not for being a national security threat but for having a wrong opinion. If we don't put a stop to this, it's coming for all of us.

Chris Murphy: "They're sitting there telling the American people that 2+2=7...those were attack plans, those were war plans, that was classified information, everybody knows it. The idea that they think they can get away with this level of gaslighting- it just strikes at the foundation of democracy"

Why are we letting the Trump administration make us debate whether the attack info was classified, or war plans? If an enemy or a journalist had obtained it wrongfully & made it public, is there any doubt in your mind how the Trump government would’ve treated them? Let’s not play their game.

I admit that I had held out some hope over the last few days that I would learn that Goldberg's initial reporting that the secretary of defense texted information that "contained operational details of forthcoming strikes on Yemen, including information about targets, weapons the U.S. would be deploying, and attack sequencing" over an insecure, unauthorized network was incorrect. The defense secretary and the White House certainly pushed back on Goldberg's claim.
But don't let anyone lie to you: Information about the timing of forthcoming U.S. military operations is prima facie classified Top Secret.
Information regarding high-value targets, weapons systems, military unit movements, even whether we think that we have Operational Security - OPSEC - in advance of a military operation is prima facie classified.

Our secretary of defense texted out the no-kidding Time on Target! That would, to say the least, be useful information for anyone manning enemy air defense batteries.
These are extremely sensitive topics that should never be discussed outside of the appropriate venue and only with those with need-to-know.
Do not get misled by the idea that by somehow not attaching a PDF stamped "CLASSIFIED TOP SECRET," Hegseth didn't do anything wrong here. Hegseth's texts per born classified the moment he wrote them. This information by its very existence and by its definition was classified the moment Hegseth started tapping on his iPhone.

It is inconceivable to me that any other defense secretary would survive such an incredible lack of judgment. Whatever his other qualities, this one shouldn't either.
Pete Hegseth foolishly placed highly sensitive national defense information about an impending U.S. military action on a non-secure system that was already compromised. Then he spent several days obfuscating and lying about it.
Again: The question now hangs over this administration: Will there be accountability under Trump - or does the buck stop nowhere?

I am BEGGING people to frame this properly. The issue here is not one colossal blunder where a reporter got info. The issue is it’s clear these people are all routinely ignoring the most absolutely basic security protocols, and WE HAVE NO IDEA what breaches this has already enabled.

Every single Democrat in Congress should be demanding the resignation of Waltz and Hegseth. Every single one.

This is a massive scandal. There should be a serious price to pay.

AND THERE IS ZERO DOWNSIDE FOR EVEN THE MOST SCAREDY-CAT CONGRESSPERSON.

You may not be aware that over the last 50 years, the Supreme Court has chipped away at your Miranda rights case by case, rendering them weak and ineffective. You no longer have the right to remain silent, to an attorney, not with the foece you used to. Time for a history lesson. /🧡

This was always where it was going to go: when the President claims it can detain and remove anyone without judicial review or due process, they will try to deport and remove people without judicial review and due process.

Straight up authoritarian dictator stuff.
