Guy grew up in Presque Isle with his large Irish family during the time they ran the Town Farm

He was a lifetime student and teacher of French, but also loved teaching Latin and philosophy. After years regaling local music audiences with his Gallagher Brothers, he played fiddle with the Wednesday Evening Fiddlers of New Brunswick, until the month before his death.

Born March 15, 1939, to Mary Alice (Campbell) and John Guy Gallagher, (New Brunswick), his birthday echoed his classical interests, falling upon the Ides of March. Guy was guaranteed to make a pun or a joke out of anything, usually when least expected.

Well folks, it's been a rough rollercoaster. No services are planned at this time.

Guy Robert Gallagher, 86, of Presque Isle, Maine, passed away Feb 9, 2026, finally at rest. He remained at home until his final day, when he went to the Aroostook House of Comfort for care.

This is stunning. I have a charcoal illustration I did for an Algernon Blackwood story a million years ago that echoes this, I'll have to dig it up!

A bird that kind of looks like a baby dragon. It has patches of brown and white feathers, big round black shiny eyes, and two delightful feathery tufts on its head.

Found this 1970s photo of my father-in-law posing in Quebec at Carnival with an ice carving, and after spending an inordinate amount of time in freezy Aroostook with him of late, this seemed like a highly appropriate way of ameliorating this imbalance.
