a new linux, a different linux, one where it's graphics rendering can get horrifically fucked up, an i can do a fresh install, one where if shit gets dicey it's just immediately wiped from my drive, a better linux (technically)

eh, i handled it quite fine, i'm writing this using the fucked up linux mint post fixing and it's quite fine actually, no visual bugs/errors and the whole thing isn't bricked, it's practically back to how it was, plus vaguely knowing the steps to fucking this one up so badly will make me install

goofed the xorg one there's more to that string

ok so basically i booted directly to this, the silly input fields to log in and the silly graphics stating it's a log in screen was completely gutted, this as caused by purging my mesa drivers so i can downgrade to the official releases

as to if that extra string is required, no clue! i didn't have basic rendering to test that, and what's the magical data string? i saw it but did not keep that thing knocking about so who fucking knows
all i know is this has been the worst experience i've had with computers in my life

last i checked downgrading drivers are supposed to be relatively straight forward and not cause this hell, but i think linux mint is special and requires 1 more string of data to not nuke the xorg server along with the software rendering

figured it out
general steps to solving this is
sudo apt-get install xorg
sudo apt-get install cinnamon
congrats! that's the solution oh my god i spent hours on this

NEW PROBLEM, fuck my chud linux mint life

I FIGURED IT OUT! My x server was purged

My thoughts where to reinstall the mesa driver i wanted to purge, did that and open gl rendering is still gone

apparently not, used ppapurge to reset my mesa drivers, updated them and then reseted my pc to this, and checkimg for any drivers what so ever comes back with an error
