When Michael First approached me about his idea for @trustfnd.com, I immediately saw the potential. This is the platform we've all been looking for to collaborate with other independent journalists.
Thank you for this shoutout!

You can sign up to Katelyn's newsletter and the newsletter of one of her collaborators here, it's a trans + feminist indie bundle 😍

You should meet more of the amazing journalists already collaborating on @trustfnd.com, so let me introduce you.
Starting with one of my favorite people: @katelynburns.com
Now that CNN and WBD are set to become state media in a sale to Paramount/Oracle/TikTok, it is especially important to support independent media.
Off the top of my head:
www.thehandbasket.co
404media.co
www.garbageday.email
Add your favorites in the replies. Fuck state-backed media monopolies.
Ok I'm no longer counting and sharing donos, but by my count, we raised $45,044.39 yesterday for red state queer organizations.
Thank you everybody!
"Netflix walks away from a deal to buy WBD's studio and streaming assets after WBD deemed Paramount's $31/share bid to be superior; NFLX jumps 8%+ after hours"
I hope Mark Thompson quits if this deal happens. This would absolutely destroy his legacy.

“The most important thing journalism can do in a dictatorship is to tell the truth,” says Salvadoran journalist Carlos Dada in this interview with @eduardosuarez.bsky.social ahead of his Reuters Memorial Lecture on 9 March

This is from @status.news, and it is gross.
FCC chairman Brendan Carr sat down with Ben Smith of Semafor so he could "shower praise" upon David Ellison and Bari Weiss, and then hint around at who he might sue next.

"Five of the UK’s leading news organisations, including the BBC, the FT and Sky News, have drawn up plans for a coalition aimed at preventing AI tools from exploiting their journalism without permission."
FT, BBC, and more outlets are banding together so journalism doesn't get stolen by AI companies.

I'm glad 😍
A few good things came out of it, these human moments sometimes help people open up and reply more freely. It's good to have users who know the drill :)

I just sent an email blast to exactly the incorrect segment.
That very specific feeling of shock / despair of making a big error in a send, realizing it, not being able to stop it, is such a throwback to my newsletter writing days.
I'm sorry if you received it, but if it helps: I feel so alive!
Glad there are independent journalists like @erininthemorning.com who dissect the shoddy opinion journalism published in prestige outlets.
Fund them.
Also thank you for your support, that's really lovely to hear!

We're currently bootstrapping with a small team, so we're taking it step by step.
So what we have now is a demo of how to bundle subscription *trials,* hopefully making it easier to get people to try more paid subscriptions and fund more of the sources they trust.
4️⃣ No revenue cuts: If we bundle subscriptions, we don't want to introduce another middle man that takes a cut.
24.02.2026 12:20 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 03️⃣ Creator control: Even in a bundle, we want to establish multiple payment relationships in one go rather than creating a layered single one.
24.02.2026 12:20 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 02️⃣ Bundling subscriptions, not brands: Audiences already follow multiple journalists they trust — we're just bundling the way they pay them.
24.02.2026 12:20 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 01️⃣ Creators should bundle themselves: Lots of platforms already bundle journalism, we want creators to choose who they want to be in a bundle with.

On journalism bundles...
The question I got most often since launching @trustfnd.com two weeks ago: You make it easy to bundle newsletters, but what about paid subscriptions?
It's what we're currently building. We've set ourselves a few guardrails and I'm curious to hear what you think.
