Call for “facts over fear” as councillors set to vote on Cabinteely Greenway A local group in Dublin has called for "facts over fear" to win out as Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council councillors are due to vote on the Part 8 planning permission for the Cabinteely Greenway tomorrow (Monday). The 2.3km greenway is proposed to link Cherrywood, Cabinteely Park, and Cornelscourt. It includes traffic calming and improved pedestrian links, as well as for cycling.

Manna to explore drone deliveries in Cork A temporary no-fly zone has been in place since February 14 covering Douglas, Cork city centre, the Docklands, Mayfield, and Ballyvolane

So the rest of us drone users are shoved aside to accommodate private delivery service in Cork City. It stinks. #cork www.irishexaminer.com/business/com...

What a wildly stupid idea.

Mandatory helmets and high viz is a proven remedy to reduce the number of people cycling. It effectively kills off things like Dublin Bikes.

That's why no other EU country does anything like this. Pure madness.

How green is The Irish Times? Why does it side with nimbys so much? Can I put any question in a headline? Comment & Analysis: Ok, so that headline is clearly being provocative. I should clarify it's not for clicks, but to make a point. For the avoidance of doubt, this is an article about the Wicklow to Greystones Greenway, and how it was covered in an article published in Saturday's The Irish Times, which ran with the headline: "Richard Nairn: How green are greenways?"

Helmets and hi-vis clothing to be made mandatory for e-bikes and e-scooter users Cabinet will sign off on plans to explicitly ban the use of scramblers on roads this morning.

And there we have it folks, having failed to do anything to halt the injury and death toll on our roads the government now plans to criminalise cycling.

This will kill bike share schemes around the country. @bleeperactive.bsky.social

I want to say this clearly. The racist comments I’ve experienced online are not just upsetting, exhausting, or unpleasant. They are dehumanising. And that has a real impact, not just on me, but on others who see them and recognise themselves in them.

Cork crash closes major city road as man dies in separate dumper truck accident Emergency services responded to two serious incidents in Cork, with one fatal workplace accident and a major city road closure

The 27 year old woman who was killed in Cork yesterday was cycling on a 50kph street in an urban area.

The default 30kph limit promised by the govt may not have saved her life but it will save lives in the future. We can't allow them to renege on that promise.

Once again, the RSA's idea to task citizens with responsibility for road safety seems unhelpful when we have no role in road design and very little influence on the regulation or enforcement of road traffic offences.

Ballina man stages protest over parking on footpaths | Nenagh Guardian A MAN from Ballina staged a protest outside the Civic Offices in Nenagh on Monday last as part of a desperate bid to persuade Tipperary County Council to stop cars and lorries parking on footpaths in the scenic village.

He's 100 % right to protest, this is an issue in every single village, town and city in Ireland without question!

Gardai and councils largely ignore it by choice.

This is ridiculous, where is the traffic management plan. Cycling is a legitimate from of Transport.
Nobody should have to dismount, clearly Jonathan can't. I explained this was a concern.
Pedestrian to mix with people cycling from two-way to in a very narrow section of roadway.

Green light for Strand Road cycle path as High Court rulling overturned by the Court of Appeal A High Court judgment which blocked a proposed 6-month trial of a cycle route on Strand Road in Sandymount in Dublin has today been overturned by the Court of Appeal. The project included making the road one-way for cars. The judgment was delivered today after a long wait when the Court of Appeal reserved judgment in February 2023. The High Court ruling, which was appealed by Dublin City Council, had been in favour of Peter Carvill, of the Serpentine Avenue, Tritonville and Claremont Roads (STC) group, and Cllr Mannix Flynn (independent).
