In my corner of the bass-playing universe there was life pre- and post-Mani. He brought a liquid, melodic funkiness that EVERYONE copied. And when I finally met him he was exactly how you imagined him: joyful, generous, unstarry (& more of a star because of it) and wickedly funny. A life well lived

The Stanley Donwood/Thom Yorke/Radiohead exhibition at Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum is fantastic. Lots of detail on the working process, sketches and trial runs, and the finished work looks beautiful at scale. Inspiring stuff

I had a chance to read this early and it’s excellent. It’s rare to see the sheer grind of touring so relentlessly documented, and Justin’s account of his condition is done with no pity at all (though it’s terrifying for anyone who works with their hands). Fabulously written, too
