literally intentionally set up the most incredible guilt trip if he died and then he immediately died. horrible man. i love him.

i'm having so many thoughts about a guy whose main purpose is to die for the narrative and it's so funny. but to be fair i did this for shepherd in zzz as well

but rodrigue himself admits that it's because he knows dimitri needs an adult, so he immediately asks byleth to be that adult and it's FASCINATING but HORRIBLE LMFAO like. the parentification of byleth. like i'm just laughing so hard, it's so beautiful but terrible but i understand completely

rodrigue also does this fascinating horrible thing where he immediately imprints on byleth and mentally puts byleth in a category of "adults" where rodrigue, gilbert, and byleth are the adults, and everyone else is a child to him, but byleth himself is no older than the children

i'm not even saying that like i think he's a bad guy. he's really not. he's actually a great father to dimitri and ingrid but he's a horrible father to felix and this is because all of those children need different things from a father figure and he just could not be what felix needed

i'm actually so strangely fascinated by rodrigue as a character lmfao. not for thirst. if i had to justify it i think it's because his personality is actually very similar to my own and i understand him completely, so seeing the way in which he's a horrible father is deeply cathartic somehow

i might have some kind of fe3h fic inside of me but i'm not sure what form it will manifest in.......... i still want to write more smut for metaphor and genshin too so my life is a nightmare

tbh i don't really "like" hopes as a canon or a game (it's terribly boring) but i don't think i could've fallen so hard for byleth without the additional characterization from hopes which is why i never wrote him back in fe3h's heyday. but when i think about him being a stoic papacon i kind of die
