Since I find American political thinking puzzling, can you explain to me what an American would define "socialism"? Or even "communism"?

weeeeell... it seems to me that co-funding of health and education (yes we pay quite a bit in taxes, but that's ok most days) is considered socialism in the US, so I guess .... 😁

I could tell you about the showering system at the Gellert Baths in Budapest but they were so confusing that my mind still can't really compute it. I wandered a lot, in various stages of nakedness. There were corridors... a lot of them. At some point, I showered....

I read the book to my daughter, then 7 years old, and the part were Artax dies is hands down the saddest and most heartbreaking thing I have read in my life. I could barely finish and we were sobbing, both of us.

My daughter is 21 now and claims this is among her "top 5 childhood memories" :)

hárrétt - og ég held ekki að neitt foreldri vilji ekki að kennarar haldi starfsdaga, ég hugsa að flest skilji og virði þörfina fyrir þá. Þetta er í bara svolítið eins og vetrarfríið - 2 til 3 aukadagar sem var hent inn án þess að eiga neitt samtal og prestó - sumarfríið styttist þá bara um þá daga

Þetta með starfsdagana: það munar alveg um þessa viku eða svo af sumarfríi sem mörg verða að setja í að vera heima á starfsdögum. Snýst voða lítið um að nenna ekki börnunum sínum. Veit ekki um neinn vinnustað sem gefur launað frí vegna starfsdags.

Why should I not applaud anyone who stands with the oppressed? My lack of religious faith is no hindrance to that. There are brave and wise people in all areas of life and it would be very narrow minded to reject every idea a person has just because you don't share their entire view of the world.
