Reece James: “This is football, this is the way we want to play. If you play out from the back mistakes are going to happen."
Isn't that the definition of madness? To continuously do the same thing expecting a different outcome. If you know it's a problem do something about it, surely?!

Unfortunately we're going to have to play a goalkeeper at the Bridge too.. so we're already 1 goal down..
I'm being very negative. But honestly it would be the miracle of all miracles I think.
Him and Kinsky should ride off into the sunset together
...their xg was 0.87!
But more often than not the ball gets turned over, or he plays it to their forward, or into danger, leading to slow build up passing at the back. It's insane.
Sanchez isn't great with his feet but he was key to us beating them in the summer with his long passing.
A baffling decision.
The game changed on his mistake. We were in control at 2-2 until then.
The ball went through his hands for one of the goals.
I agree, poor defending from others too.
Subs late and poor choices.
That style of play loses games. I'm sorry keepers are forced to play it, it doesn't work
That terrible keeper has cost us big time. He is the absolute worst. Unnecessary dangerous passes across the goal, inviting pressure, playing 60/40 chance passes into the centre of midfield...What on earth is he doing. Not a shot stopper or good passer
Late and poor subs didn't help.
No chance now

How have we ended up with a spurs scoreline?!
This is the problem though, it's not the same as any other position. How often is Raya or Donarumma spoken about like that.
GK and CBs are so much about consistency and confidence. Swapping them every other game does not promote either.
Let's hope Jorgensen doesn't need to make any saves
Not a dive mate. He tripped on the ball. Big difference. Apparently
Did Madueke just win a penalty by ...tripping on the ball?
Spot on!
Jorgensen and gusto though....
After last night's craziness in the UCL, I'm hoping we don't follow suit and contribute with mad defensive lapses and high scorelines! Such is our ability to implode...
Can't wait for us to prove the summer wasn't just a fluke.
I reckon we've got this, over two legs.
I don't understand this playing out from the back. We persist with players who aren't capable of doing it. Why invite pressure when the players don't have the technical skill to break the press. It leads to so many errors/chances against, we could cut it out and prevent a few goals each season
Injured?

Great blast from the past. Loved big Ed. That's some long term scarring for a 6-1 win! Classic Chels
Ha yeah that's right. Maybe that's what the SDs thought balance was: Two largely ineffectual wingers on each side of the pitch.
Btw I shouldn't be annoyed about the game last night, but I came away still annoyed that my keeper p*ssed about with the ball. Shouldn't be that way after a 4-1 win!
Interesting you say that as my gripe with Garnacho was that he runs forward a bit before turning back every time to pass to the full back/slows the attack. Last night was totally different. Then again, we're not going to play a kamikaze high line each week. Probably why teams play a low block V us!
So we have to target the 7 so called easier options (based on form, home/away, injuries etc) being:
-villa
-Newcastle
-everton
-Forest
-Spurs
-brighton
-Sunderland
Forest and spurs seem most likely 3 points. The others.. 🫣
Ideally we'd take points of Liv and Mu, but how likely is that?!
Oh yeah I agree! It's across the league everyone's guilty of it. Arsenal are the best at it and that's a compliment. If you can do it well then why not use it to win.
Imho (from the years when Chelsea were good) if you're getting flack from everyone it means you're winning. Embrace the narrative!
I don't think that's a foul tbh.
We've had our share of karma: Sanchez playing volleyball then scoring 2017 or Kovacic getting stamped by Xaka & sent off 2020!
I think there were 2 pens missed for Chelsea at the weekend but they weren't given, we lost and that's that. Not salty, an objective view
Haha!
I'd rather feel aggrieved at the ref having won 2-1!
The level of refereeing is shocking. As a Chelsea fan those 2 penalty decisions stuck out but I also noticed on 2-3 occasions where the ref stopped arsenal making breaks, calling it back unnecessarily. Think Timber was 1v1 with Caicedo on one of them (that's got a red card written all over it!)
Yeah either offence is worthy of a penalty, but nothing given in this season of anything goes set pieces. To me it was worse than the Declan Rice handball, but hasn't really been picked up on
That's 19 points dropped from WINNING positions. Another red card , 8th this season. Criminal. Lack of maturity and leadership. Passive after the first goal and wasted opportunities. Could've been 2 behind villa after Leeds & Burnley. Now we have harder fixtures and hope those around us drop points
19 points dropped from winning positions. Only West Ham has more (20).
Should be 2 points behind villa after the last two games, instead four points dropped and we're in 4th having played 1 more than United.
So passive throughout, and a capitulation after the red card. Disappointing.

Rosenior seems to have greater consistency in selections with small rotations here and there, when compared to Maresca.
Helped by easier fixtures, sure, but it generally seems to be having a positive impact. Rotation 7/8/9 players each game was so disruptive
