I want Scotland to be a modern, independent democracy in the EU. proportional representation and a written constitution are essential

Meanwhile in Scotland, pharmacies continue to prescribe some medications and 16 walk in medical centres, open 12.00-20.00 seven days a week, are being rolled out. Policies like Right Care, Right Place are being promoted, as is Hospital at Home.

Who was paying for them and for what motive. Starmer is a greedy, grubby, grabby disgrace. He is also weak, a liar and a ghoul.

Well let's hope that they dispense with the all nonsense of a coronation. I would rather have nothing at all. However, all that is legally valid and needed is covered by the meeting of the monarch with the Privy Council and the oaths sworn and documents signed there. Everything else is fluff.

Who could ever think that Mandelson would consider fleeing to the Virgin Islands to escape prosecution. Does he seem like the type of person who would do that? Oh!

The EU needs to get rid of the one country veto which meant that Poland protected Hungary and might do so again. Czechia is now looking like a problem too. Countries should be ejected if they don't maintain the conditions that allowed accession.

Good news so long as the rules change, and change retrospectively, to say that a country will have funding withdrawn and ultimately be ejected if they regress from upholding democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. Looking at you, Hungary and you, Poland. Can't have this new rule and keep veto.

For a change.

The officer in a light blue vest is probably a liason officer or evidence gatherer (based on a search, correct me if that's wrong). He seems to be talking to the victim on the ground. Are we seeing something done right?

I thought so too, but it resolves into the police surrounding him and facing down, but not arresting, the thugs. Maybe it was a case of him assuming the worst (understandably), when they really wanted him calm to protect him better and de-escalate the situation. I wonder if their cameras were on?

Their support, and Scots in general, are pretty anti monarchist and inherited privilege. In the event of a successful referendum, the development of an interim constitution and the consequent referendum and general election following, would settle or clarify this decision on the King of the Scots.

Removing Andrew from line of succession opens up a paradox at the heart of our constitution.

We supposedly have a hereditary monarchy.

But if it were a genuine hereditary monarchy, this chap would now be reigning: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_v...

In fact, parliament controls succession.

There is nothing fair about a system that hands power to a minority time after time. 66% didn't vote for this. It is noticeable that PR governments in NE Europe govern countries which are more equal, less centralised, have better public realms and are happier. They kept their post war consensuses.

If you believe in democracy, why do you want a system that means that 34% of the vote wins 65% of the seats. A government that about 1/3 voted for. A government with a legislature that has more powers than most, including the Royal Prerogative. PR govts. have to work for voters, not corporations.

The object of PR is to meet the needs of the electorate, not the needs of the politicians. Pure D'Hondt results is the best proportional result. Most countries use a hybrid system with FPTP and a second vote for a party list which is used to reflect the wishes of the voters. Fair and equitable.

Applications can be made from the 2nd of March in Scotland. The SNP announced they were doing it this year whether Westminster did or not. I think that English voters are benefitting (rightly) from Labour panic about that move as the Holyrood election approaches.

There are pockets, sometimes more than pockets, of destitution level poverty throughout the mainland US. Mississippi, Kentucky, W Virginia, Louisiana...black and white populations. Even in better days it wasn't really a civilised country.

In no small part because the Nat Exec of the Labour Party, using the funding they controlled, was focused on purging the left, not winning an election. A left that simply wanted bog standard NW Europe type policies to grow a decent society. The present leadership of Labour are monetarist ghouls.

That was where the queen lay in state. It looked quite big to me. You are right about it not going to a vote. It's more than a bit performative.

The wonderful Jeane Freeman forensically destroys the unionist & arrogant tripe of a very Scottish quisling

If these detracting machinations against the left had not been in motion, Corbyn would have probably won the 2017 GE. Labour took 40% of the vote, their biggest increase in vote share in 70 years. A few thousand votes in a few constituencies would have won it. Starmer 34% of the vote, lower turnout.

Good grief. Is there a single politician, not being manipulated by others, out there? Is there any media, other than Byline Times, out there that is honest and truthful?

I read all the Mitfords' books in my teens but little of it stuck. I don't care, you can't make me care.

Now there's a detail I was, without regret or shame, missing.

As I say, I don't really care and I would like it to be irrelevant as soon as possible. Oh for the day when people are ridiculed for trying to insist that people use their tawdry title. As it is, it still boosts their going rate as a non executive director.

It bugged me no end that they referred to him as Lord John Marbury and called him Lord John to his face. I don't think they ever said Lord Marbury. I don't care about the correct form of address for peers, but the staff of that White House would.

Let’s keep it like this please.

In quitting, he invites all to ignore that Mandelson resigned twice when he was a cabinet minister. He was not even able to behave ethically in a system, then and now, that allows behaviour which in ordinary language most people would call corrupt. It's still grubby within the insider-made rules.
