Long story short, I made the move during the pandemic and it was one of the only places with open borders. Landed here, fell in love and stayed.

I’d reached my breaking point with all the racial injustice. I wanted to live in a place that celebrated and affirmed my existence instead of despising it.

Not from there originally. I’m a Michigan native.

I'm actively working to identify pathways and solutions for folks with marginalized identities who may need to seek asylum or relocate.

In our most recent committee meeting, we discussed immediate practical concerns like passport renewal delays. 4/8 👇🏾

Many of you have expressed concerns about potentially needing to leave the US in the face of what could be an increasingly oppressive environment.

While this work has been meaningful, the transition into a new administration raises questions about the committee's future role and function.

More urgently, it highlights our need to prepare. 2/8 👇🏾

For the past several months, I've been serving on an informal White House Advisory Committee for Americans Overseas.

Our focus has been on addressing challenges faced by Americans living abroad in areas like: voting, banking, healthcare, social security, taxation, citizenship and more…1/8 👇🏾
