I have a flight tomorrow. I'm so stressed.

I'm suppose to fly to California tomorrow to celebrate my milestone birthday with friends. Thanks to the government shutdown I may not make it. It's going to be a long stressful 24 hours seeing if I make it. 😭😭😭

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

Federal employees are heading home today; however, members of Congress will continue to receive their salary. As the humorist Andy Borowitz wrote: “That’s like eliminating the fire dept & sending checks to the arsonists.”

In all the chaos, I would urge folks to remember that a lot of folks now don’t know when their next check will come.

The vast majority are good people who love this nation deeply, and many of them are still working despite not knowing when they’ll be paid

WOW. The lead plaintiff is a Latino man who's been here legally for 24 years. He was grabbed off the street by plainclothes federal agents who didn't even ASK about his status.

He was detained overnight and only released once a supervisor realized he had been illegally arrested.

Maybe if the administration wasn’t a bunch of total demons, we wouldn’t demonize them. Maybe if ICE was operating within the law, best law enforcement practices, and actual public interest, we wouldn’t be vilifying them.

Clarifying the law is important because it reminds us not to comply in advance and to resist and take action
