The doctor was chasing a figure- he wasn't sure of his identity, however he knew for sure that he was the culprit behind the recent disappearances. It felt like he was too far from him, yet he was within his reach. He was so close that if he had extended his arms, he would be able to grab his shoulder and see him for who he really was. However while the gesture was metaphorical in his investigation, another hand met his own. The figure he was chasing had suddenly appeared in front of him, obscuring the doctor from the distant view of himself. "I've always been here, doctor." It was a reflection of himself that he saw- stood too uncomfortably close to him as he lowered head to met his eyes. The doctor was about to speak when the thumb of his reflection covered his jaw in a sushing manner. His gaze locked onto him so that he could see whatever comes out of his mouth next was nothing short of sincerity and honesty. "We were never apart." And with those words, Veritas Ratio realized the identity about the figure in front of him, and of the truth over the disappearances. Everything had finally clicked, the truth has never been this clear- And yet again, he failed to accept it. His reflection pulled him closer to rest his head on his shoulder and wrapped his arm around him. He wouldn't have realized it as he had returned to his catatonic state, nor will he remember this interaction, yet he continued to pat the back of his head. "I've always been here, for you."

We were never apart.

His reflection smirked back at him. He could feel his hand going through the back of his head, encouraging him to get closer to his face, to lock his gaze in his own eyes and to fully absorb his delighted expression. A gesture, at any other time would be considered romantic, if it wasn't for the gun pointing at his side. But it will never come to be, for they are the same person. To kill one is to kill the other, as his strangling hold tightens on the other's neck, a bruise shaped by his fingers starts appearing on his own neck. "You can't get rid of me." But he could try.

Congratulations, Veritas Ratio is no more. You've finally gained your freedom. No more pesky hypocritical doctors who would defend idiots in the name of morality. No more stealthily doing your deeds behind his back. No more memories to be eaten to hide your existence. There's finally peace to you and the universe, now that this world will be free from idiotic parasites that plagued it. Yet why does it feel so hollow? The floating golden laurels, remnants of what symbolized his old pathetic self slowly vanished before your eyes. Has this always been what you wished for? Of course not. Else your face would be painted by a smile wider than what you've always worn when he was around. After all, you've been doing everything for his sake. He might have not liked it, but you were born to help him reach his dream of eradicating stupidity. Now that he's gone, what other purpose do you even have?

It was a rare occasion to see the doctor without his plaster head. Did he forget it at home? Or did he just choose to not wear it because the weather was hotter than usual? Either way, the student was glad he decided to bring his camera to class today. He could sneakily shoot up some pictures of the handsome face behind the bust and sell it to the public. Or if it wasn't professional quality enough, he could just sell it for the other students. He heard rumours that some have placed pictures of the doctor on their own self made altars, as a kind of shrine they prayed on for good luck at the exams. Whether that was true or not, as long as there is money to be made, he couldn't care less about the reasons they needed the pictures for. Click. A sudden bright light flashes across the room. The student realized he had screwed up- he forgot to turn off his camera's flash. And in the next second, he could see a high speed chalk headed to his forehead, accurately being thrown by the doctor himself. Now he could at least confirm the rumours about his legendary chalk throw. And how it hurts... like hell. Perhaps he was still somewhat dizzy when he checks the camera's feed after class, that he thought there was something off about the picture that he took. The doctor looks nervous- if not outright scared. And there's no way a shadow could be smiling, right? In the end, he decided to keep the picture for himself. He doubt anyone would be interested in buying it, let alone placing it in their Doctor shrine. If anything, it reeks of bad omen for the things to come.
