Pottery using SVG?

A horizontally centred column for the prose. Love it.

AI isn't "increasing efficiency" if other people end up having to parse, fact check and correct your work.

The thing most people look for in leadership are absolute rules that they can apply β€œdo this, not that” style.

The truth is, leadership is thinking in systems. Org health and productivity are related. Org change isn’t just moving TO something, it’s FROM-TO, and so on.

Consider the whole system.

Okay, how about someone who isn’t a hyper-specialized expert?
Asking for an imaginary friend, of course.

Great! Well done.
Now that everyone understands, can we all come together and ask for a viewbox property to be added to CSS, so that we can modify itβ€Šβ€”β€Šmaybe even animate itβ€Šβ€”β€Šwithout JS?

Now I want to say β€œWhat did I tell you‽” to dozens of people.
Damn I should’ve made a list…

Sitting in a food court in Berlinβ€Šβ€”β€Šyes, I’m on vacation. Now I know where all the vibe coders are.

I have used it many times for that very reason. Such a great tool.

Well done! I’ve the feeling that I can never find a fixed base, or --scale in your case, that works for very narrow and extra-wide viewports. 1.1–1.2 seems good on extremely narrow ones, up to 1.4–1.5 on ultra-wide. At least for display text.
I could see that work for section headings, though.

If you could dynamically mirror HTML content in multiple places (e.g. like a <use> for HTML), what would you use it for?

17.07.2025 20:29 β€” πŸ‘ 19    πŸ” 4    πŸ’¬ 20    πŸ“Œ 0

I would declare the <template>s for each custom element just once per page.

subgrid is soooo good

Having to know the span n value in advance leads to a somewhat rigid DOM structure though.

To be clear, I don’t expect it to be broken, but I anticipate it.

If I can’t read a blog post, or a business’s opening hours without JS, hell, when I’m reading a full article for free that’s supposed to be paywalled, then I’m talking about failed expectations.

16.07.2025 20:01 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I will answer that as if I’d been using Web Components for ages lol:

b) a little, because the main benefit of Shadow DOM to me lies in the fixed DOM around the <slot> elements, not the styling barrier.

Is it because the text wraps to too many lines?

Insufficient leadership begets insufficient leadership.

The only way to get an approximation of a correct bit of code from an AI is to ask the right questions (i.e., create the correct prompt). It seems to me that, as a profession, we have been struggling to ask the right questions for 80 years now. It's a hard problem.

The structure adds to the clarity. The length differs, obviously, but feels always appropriate; same goes for the tone.

I’m not a fan of footnotes, and because of jakearchibald.com/2025/give-fo... they currently stand out to me.

What I like most is the reflectiveness.

What do you mean? All shortcuts are terrible.

I use a qwertz keyboard by the way.

I guess you could call me a skeptic for now.
