This is an interesting piece but I just read it going โthe missing bit is the section on how the internet has fried everyoneโs brainsโ.

Glasgow is lovely, but I'm surprised at how many public bodies are telling people to look at the Nazi hate platform/everything app
26.10.2025 11:10 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0๐คฃ I felt like the positivity in adversity was a part of the day, maybe my week was decent. I got the away day, joined in the boycott and now I've resubscribed so me and the kids can watch from Finland again. Would love to be there today tho...

21.10.2025 22:10 โ ๐ 261 ๐ 127 ๐ฌ 32 ๐ 78I really think people are underestimating the degree to which 21st century politics are going to be apocalyptically bad; we are collectively sliding towards mass ethnic cleansing being the norm in the Western World, out of no reason but pure fucking spite and empty nostalgia.
21.10.2025 21:57 โ ๐ 1112 ๐ 269 ๐ฌ 37 ๐ 26I am absolutely fascinated by rangers fans and their ideas about their position in the world
20.10.2025 18:12 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Summed it up well there, felt the same during the game. Very glad I went tho
18.10.2025 16:39 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0It would be simpler to just point out their bad faith. Like I said, I might be wrong. But it feels a bit like you guys helped them out by making an unsustainably bad policy into a sustainably bad policy
15.10.2025 06:45 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0They already did it though. It's just future, left-leaning governments that are committed to not doing this.
They've successfully laundered their reputations and will scream about the debt if they're in opposition. Maybe you're playing 4D chess and I'm thick, but it seems like they stitched you up
But you are negotiating away your possible future government's fiscal headroom in a way that legitimises this government's claims to fiscal prudence just months after they raided a pension fund to "pay for" tax cuts. It doesn't seem smart. But if you believe in it, of course you have to do it
14.10.2025 17:39 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The electoral benefits on the anti-austerity side of Finnish politics are going to be for the parties that say 'this is daft, no other country is doing this to itself, we won't enter a government that doesn't repeal this'
14.10.2025 13:47 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0IDK mate, if I was you I would wonder why we need cross party consensus on this but not on, say, education or healthcare policy.
What is the point of you, if you're accepting the idea that politicians shouldn't decide on this stuff?
Civil servant thinking. If you want the political benefits of opposing a policy you think is dumb, you gotta say it's dumb
14.10.2025 12:20 โ ๐ 5 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1There was a little table selling cakes and sandwiches and coffee, run by parents and turning a good profit. There always is at these tournaments. I suspect the demand is there for something more permanent, and the building in the structure is purely a cost, not a revenue stream
14.10.2025 05:25 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Today's sports infrastructure. Loads of parents here today. Relatively new, in a well-off neighbourhood, weather is Baltic and this big structure has no cafe/bar/clubhouse/restaurant. Such a waste
12.10.2025 11:08 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Sure there are places I can drink and watch sport! But idk why Finnish clubs don't want that kind of community hub. The day my kids stop playing football I will never do anything for their club ever again, it's a bit sad
12.10.2025 10:43 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I would absolutely talkoot the f out of a Finnish clubhouse where I could get a pint and watch a game on TV. I don't think such a thing exists, unfortunately
12.10.2025 09:39 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0He seems quite committed there, clearly condemning the NATO member threatening to annexe parts of another
11.10.2025 10:10 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I'm happy for you. Really I am. I'm just not looking forward to the Finnish state response to coming events in the US

09.10.2025 14:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Is this the "Nordic model"
07.10.2025 19:01 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Assuming that is correct (lol) it's a bit victim blamey to then say other places "chose" their current arrangements after thirty years of externally imposed pro-car bias
07.10.2025 18:43 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is not based on a reading of the available literature, but rather absorbing the history through osmosis, but: London has had many more choices since the 1980s. And other countries that had London-like public transport management then were actively prevented from maintaining it
07.10.2025 18:42 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Rail counts for quite a lot tho doesn't it
07.10.2025 13:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0I always laugh when British people tell me the UK is ultra capitalist and Finland is basically a socialist paradise. Then I tell them about the Finnish healthcare system
07.10.2025 13:14 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Just incredible
03.10.2025 10:33 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Logically, the author of this Times piece is proposing forced deportation of one million migrants.
