#Ultrarunners, what are your go-to protein powders? I've landed on two: slow-digesting casein for overnight muscle repair (slow amino acid release), and Tailwind Recovery for a quick hit of carbs, protein, and electrolytes. Still open to trying out other options though - any recommendations?

Adding to the Strava map via frozen bodies of water is the best feeling. Here we are on North Pond this morning in Chicago!!

Back in Chicago this weekend. A 10/10 running city if you hate hills.. Lakefront path is awesome! You might get 40 ft. of elevation gain on a 20 mile run here. πŸ™οΈπŸ™οΈπŸ™οΈ

πŸ”‹πŸ”‹πŸ”‹ Does anyone here make their own energy gels for running? πŸ”‹πŸ”‹πŸ”‹

The gross margins these companies must be pulling in on energy gels have to be crazy high!

🦢Barefoot running: fad or useful? I used it for 2 years to fix my heel strike after a shin injury. Switching to barefoot has huge injury risk, so I slowly ramped up mileage! I went from 40-mile weeks to 2-mile weeks! Heel striking isn't bad, just wanted less shin pressure. Any hot takes on this? πŸ”₯

⛰️ Altitude racing? Aim to arrive 1+ week before race to fully acclimate - more red blood cells, plasma volume, oxygen utilization, and no AMS! If you're short on time, arrive right before the race, NOT 2-3 days prior because days 2-3 are often the WORST due to those physiological adjustments!
