We need to change the way we think about Christian history and this book is a solid step in the right direction. My review of it is here: jlcr.diu.edu/article/1442...

A call to hospitality not hostility - Church Mission Society (CMS)
As followers of Jesus we can model a 'bigger imagination' in migration debate
pleased to see this statement from my org in light on recent (but not new!) anti-immigration sentiment. "This is an opportunity to lead with faith, to counter fear with compassion and to demonstrate a gospel-shaped response that embraces hospitality above hostility." tinyurl.com/t9jwpuf3

Scattered or sent? - Church Mission Society (CMS)
From ancient Antioch to contemporary Ukraine, real-life mission resists easy categorisation
If every Christian is either a sender or a goer, everybody is involved. The irony is then that this framework overlooks people, particularly those who go without attachments to the senders that it leads us to expect

Asylum seekers can stay at hotel in Epping after government wins appeal
Almost 140 men are thought to be staying at the Bell Hotel in Epping, which has been at the centre of repeated protests in recent weeks.
"Therefore send not to know / for whom the bell tolls / It tolls for thee."
This story about asylum-seekers continues to develop as a migration flashpoint. Hadn't yet connected the hotel name to Donne's poem when I wrote this: churchmissionsociety.org/acts-11-blog...

What many see when they face the complexities of human migration is a reason for anxiety. But God is not done with migrants or the lands they arrive in. Where our culture sees problems, what promise can we envision through the workings of the Spirit?
