amusingly the book was written by pre-Sandman Neil Gaiman.

I remember years ago reading a book about Douglas Adams that talked about how poor he was at actually writing things to a deadline etc. and it really put me off him even though the book's tone was trying to make you think this made him a bit of a character.

on the basis of the one TP book I have read, he is also a more disciplined writer than Adams, in that his books have plots that actually resolve and the plots aren't just ones he previously used when writing for Dr Who.

I had a similar experience - read one, quite enjoyed it, but never felt any interest in reading another one.
