My next game -

*Radiant Historia - Perfect Chronology*

I heard good things about it and I can't wait to experience it for myself!

And now with another game on my 3DS backlog complete, it's time to pick another game to play.

But even with that said, Metroid Samus Returns is still an enjoyable time. Im really glad I finally got around to playing this game on my 2DSXL.

But backtracking felt not as intense or interesting in comparison to other Metroid games I played. Take Metroid Zero Mission for the GBA. I really had to scratch my brain to find all the items and pickups in that one. Meanwhile there were only a few challenges here and there that made me stop.

And the plasma beam made things a lot easier further on. All these elements made for a fun experience, but it wasn't without a few hiccups. Metroid is famous for backtracking to pickup any leftover items you missed with your new abilities and items, and this one is not different.

From the Alpha Metroids to the Mother herself, these creatures gave me quite the challenge in my adventure to get rid of them. Another thing wanna talk about is the power ups, my favorite and most useful being the spider ball. I got really creative with it to grab any leftover items.

The music gave a nice ambiance to the areas. But it really picked up when you fought the Metroids, which as it turns out we're the most interesting things to fight in this game. I could see why the galactic federation wanted them gone if they could mutate into such powerful forms.

But I should give my thoughts on this entry in the series while they are still fresh, so let me start. First off the world planet has a variety of unique places to explore, and the gameplay is solid. The enemies were alright, but a bit more variety would have been nice.

For the 3DS.

This was a really good remake for a Gameboy game and the mechanics introduced in the game were awesome like parrying which ended up being in Metroid Dread (Which I should also complete down the road)

Dragon Quest 8 is a good game. A damn good game, and I hope the other entries in the series are just as good.

Thank you to the developers for creating such a wonderful experience and thank you to those that made the 3DS version. I love this version and will always have it on my 2DSXL if I ever feel the need to experience the journey to cure the cursed king again.

It's funny to think my only exposure to the series was a spinoff platformer about a slime in the Nintendo DS which is my favorite game of all time. And now I completed one of the main entries of the series, which I greatly enjoyed.

After defeating 14/16 of its bosses, I called it a day and decided to just get the true ending of DQ8 and close the book on my first playthrough. And so here we are, the game is complete, the true ending gained, and I gained a further appreciation for Dragon Quest.

Sorry about that, just had to vent. Apologies. But yeah, thanks to Dhoulmagus in Mem., I threw up my hands and surrendered to Memories Lane.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, FUCK THAT BULLSHIT RNG THAT GAVE HIM THE ADVANTAGE IN EVERY BATTLE. IT WAS PRETTY FUCKING BAD WITH MARCELLO AND THAT BLOODY MUTT LEOPOLD, BUT DHOULMAGUS....OOOOOOH. WHOEVER DESIGNED THE RNG FOR DHOULMAGUS IN MEM., YOU HAVE GAINED MY IRE.

FUCK DHOULMAGUS IN MEM. THAT SON OF A BITCH. FUCK HIM, FUCK HIS DEMON WINGS, HIS BULLSHIT COMBO THAT KILLED MY PARTY MEMBERS JUST LIKE THAT. FUCK HIS WAR CRY LIKE ATTACK THAT STOPPED MY PARTY FROM ATTACKING. FUCK HIS BULLSHIT SPELLS THAT FUCKED UP MY MAX LEVEL PARTY.

But I defeated them and carried on. I thought maybe I might complete the dungeon just fine, but alas that would not be the case. For one boss driven me to ultimately give up my pursuits of conquering Memories Lane. One boss and his RNG HORSESHIT. Excuse me folks, I'm gonna swear like a sailor here.

I took down Marcello and carried on through the rest, from a dangerous version of evil Jessica that took out two of my team members leaving only Jessica and Red to battle her and her shadow minions to the amped version of Ruin and his powerful strikes.

And my fears were realized when I faced Marcello in Mem. Three different attack turns, instakill spells and stopping my team from casting made the fight challenging, but this is what I asked for by entering Memories Lane.

I had to get out of there and change my strategy to that of cheesing him with Red's Toxic Sword ability, poisoning the demonic mutt, and defending until nature took it's course. After the dreaded dog was brought to heel, I realized the rest of the dungeon wouldn't be a breeze.

Things started out well for me as I took a measured approach of tackling one boss a day. Then things took a turn with one particular boss named Sir Leopold in Mem. He nearly caused my first party wipe of my playthrough.

With one of them being a new area to explore exclusive to the 3DS, Memories Lane. After getting my gear in order and making sure I got my party right. I traveled to the entrance of the new dungeon and entered a boss trial of 15 bosses from the main story (and one super boss), But more powerful.

This was the Dragovian Sanctuary and these were the Dragovian Trials. The first was pretty easy, then they became more challenging. But with grit, good planning, and high damage, I defeated the dragons trials and claimed my prizes.

After the credits rolled, I loaded up the game and headed out to find it. When I discovered the altar I was transported to a land high above the clouds, ride with new challenges in the form of mighty dragons.

Even the final boss went down in a few turns. With the true threat of the world defeated, the heroes rejoiced and the curse was lifted. All was well...or was it? After I completed the game the first time, a vision appeared of a great challenge to be found.

As I thought the things could get dicey by the end of the game, I gotten an item that lead to me and area that would allow me to level up quickly. So quickly that by the time I was done grinding, my entire party were at level 99. The rest of the game became easier to manage.

But then as I progressed through the game the monsters became more challenging to fight and I had to try and keep up as best I could.

From the simple slime at the beginning, to the dangerous demons and monsters that plague you later on in the game, you had to be ready to fight. I mostly focused on trying to level up to make battles go by faster and boss battles a bit less rough to deal with.

By the end of the game, my party consisted of Hero, Morrie, Red, and Jessica. And with that, I had a great team capable of tackling the many monsters and trials of this game. And boy were there many.
