The charity GMAC screening my film in Glasgow has been give a forced eviction notice.

Louise Oliver, director of GMAC: “City Property has terminated the current lease agreement for the cultural tenants in the building and intends to impose dramatically increased rents to any who remain”

City Property said: "Lease renewals are a standard process for all tenants given that existing leases expire and the market rent of properties change over time, which is reflected in any new lease agreement. "Lease renewal negotiations for 103 Trongate have been ongoing for some time and we have already advised our tenants that the serving of a notice to vacate would be necessary to enable the old leases to end and the new lease agreements to take effect. "This is common practice across the property market"

City Property - ie the council - couldn’t make it more clear they see this simply as commercial office property to be rented to the highest bidder. Absolute cultural vandalism.

Seven arts organisations at Trongate 103 have been told by council-owned City Property to sign new leases or get out. They were given 28 days notice.

Mark Langdon, chair of Glasgow Media Access Centre's board, said this "massively" threatens his charity.
