As far as I know, Deep Rock Galactic does this as well? But it just makes me think, wouldn't having the passes be permanent account unlocks net the same income if not more than the current version does... because you would get new players buying the old passes? 🤔 or maybe I'm forgetting something...

Maybe a hot-take, but I genuinely think I would be fine with paid battle passes (even if they have to up the cost to compensate) if they were NOT, FOMO based.
You pay for a pass, it stays permanent to your account and you can unlock the rewards at any time.
Hell, just remove FOMO in games overall!
