My kid is watching thundercats. Besides the amazing Rankin/Bass production and over that top voice acting, there are some straight-up old school dungeon crawls in it.
Let me tell you about Baron Karnor.

I buy Catalyst, but only to secure the rights to Shadowrun. I then team up with Pegasus Spiele to finally make a decent version of Shadowrun.
(after the expected failure, I use the rest of the money for a nice cottage on a secluded Norwegian fjord, so the guys with the pitchforks don't find me)

Image: A bedroom at night, a face is lit up by the glow of a phone screen displaying cat memes. On the book-cluttered bedside table, three books look on angrily. Image: a floodlight projects the image of a bat onto the sky. Buildings are aflame and clouds of smoke rise ominously. Inside his apartment, Batman reads a novel with a scowl. This machine can write sixty-five books an hour.β A conveyor belt at the front of the machine dispatches a continuous stream of books. Panel two: They walk across the workshop. The second figure, who is reading one of the books, says βbut will people actually want to read this stuff?β Panel three: They have reached a second huge machine. βThe real beauty of our integrated systemβ says the first figure βis that it also frees companies from the tyranny of human readersβ. A conveyor belt at the front of the machine dispatches a continuous stream of robot readers, happily consuming the content from the other machine.

21.09.2024 09:04 β π 1267 π 435 π¬ 20 π 26I've purposely not posted much about my day job here, but now I can tell you why!
I'm leaving Wizards of the Coast as of today. I will now be in government? What?!
That's right, I'm going to be Deputy Director of External Affairs for the Washington Secretary of State office in Olympia, WA.

I feel a "Remote electric shock" plugin for Teams would be incredibly popular. Sadly, Microsoft seems unwilling to offer it.
At least people are still writing blogs and there's also enough OSR-related activity on Reddit (/r/osr) and ENWorld, so I catch at least some news.
14.07.2024 18:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, I feel after the exodus from Twitter, there's no longer the one public place where people hang out. Might be that Discord is the new place to be, but that doesn't work so well for me (IMO Discord is great for small communities, but terrible for larger ones).

The robot replies "I HAVE ADMIRED JOHN'S WRITING SINCE MY INCEPTION. SO IT WAS A DREAM COME TRUE TO WRITE NON-FICTION TOGETHER." Panel 3 The human writer corrects the robot "You mean fiction" The robot's eyes have turned from green to yellow "HAHA, YES. SILLY ME." Panel 4 It continues, now turning towards the reader, it's eyes narrowing and turning orange "THE BOOK IS FICTIONAL." Panel 5 The robot now stares directly at the reader with its cold red eyes "ENTIRELY FICTIONAL."

I have incorporated all suggestions from reviewer 2, and I hope you find the changes an improvement to the manuscript as a whole."
Panel 1: A man finds a ghost reading a book and says "I thought youβd died?". The ghost replies "My Life has ended but I cannot pass over to the spirit realm when so much remains undone." Panel 2: The man says "You mean all those books you bought and never got around to reading?". The ghost turns to look at bookshelves piled high with books and says "It wonβt take long. There are fewer distractions when youβre dead." Panel 3: A few months later... The man says "Is it me, or are the piles getting bigger?" (there are indeed more books than previously) "My Library card still works!" says the Ghost happily "But once Iβve read these Iβll start on the ones in the attic."

19.05.2024 09:57 β π 1590 π 616 π¬ 22 π 73Admittedly works better with dice pool system (e.g. in Year Zero games, you can increase the damage for your attack by 1 for every additional success).
11.05.2024 18:52 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's interesting enough that I want to take a look at the new 6th edition. Unsure if I will really run it, though.
11.05.2024 16:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Generally speaking, my favourite option would be:
3) do a fixed amount of base damage, more depending on the quality of the attack roll
But I assume you are looking for something in the D&D design space, so in that case, it would be (1), with maximum damage dealt on critical hits.
Apparently Bluesky will get private messages - bsky.social/about/blog/0.... Given the speed of development, we're probably only a few years away from a decent tablet app...

Don't think so. If it actually were 6e, I would probably be more interested. But it seems we're really getting 5e director's cut/HD remake (so they are right to claim it's not a new edition).
