I have seen a lot of cursed stuff in my time in academia but this is among the *most* cursed.
Grammarly is generating miniature LLMs based on academic work so that users can have their writing ‘reviewed’ by experts like David Abulafia, who died less than two months ago.

Research integrity isn’t a compliance exercise. It’s foundational to the credibility, sustainability, and future of #ScholComm and #Science
But policies don’t operationalize themselves. If integrity is a priority, it’s time for a plan.
We unpack what that takes:

Yes. Studies like www.fhi.no/en/publ/2023... and onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/... need to be redone now you can do proximity and wild cards?

Are #openaccess fees that some journals charge authors too high? The Chinese Academy of Sciences, the world’s largest research institution, reportedly thinks so and plans to stop funding some, a move that could shake up #scientificpublishing. @science.org www.science.org/content/arti...

My first piece on Leiden Madtrics comes out from a triple joy:
1. Joy of reading a thought-provoking book and listening to the presentation from @samuelmoore.org
2. Joy of discussing with others who actually care the research commons
3. Joy of writing together with Tanya, a PhD colleague at CWTS

Reference lists contain 100s of paid entries. If papers are retracted, no real authors are punished, and citations still count, even from retracted papers

Qualtrics is getting too expensive and our institute is considering switching to another survey software.
What can you recommend?
Needs to be user friendly, have reasonable support, handle similar features to Qualtrics, and be cheaper.
Wow.
