My wife was trying to prop Eiki up for a photo.
On the right is what Eikiβs expression would look like in human form. π€
I captured the partial eclipse this morning!
The first picture is handheld (at 4:49 AM); the second is on a tripod (at 5:25 AM), so itβs slightly sharper.

My wife and I went out for tea and scones, and I snapped a few pictures with the Super-Takumar 50mm Ζ/1.4.
Itβs a fun lens for making mundane things look dreamy and alien, thanks to its shallow depth of field and smooth transitions.
I received an amazing discount of β$6.48!
Yes, thatβs a double negative. If I accept this offer, I will be paying $6.48 more for this lens than the base price. π
Heβs just a head and two paws of different sizes. π€
28.02.2026 03:05 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah, amazing to see all the different styles. I love this dark reddish one.
27.02.2026 08:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah it's such a nice repro. In my opinion a bit too heavy even! I mean, it feels satisfying to move the pieces, but itβs definitely overkill.

Not my picture, but this is the plastic version I got her. I filled the pieces with lead, so itβs an impressively heavy set now.
I think itβs one of the most stunning plastic sets Iβve seen, but of course it doesnβt compare with an old wooden one.
Yeah, theyβre stunning! My wife has a plastic version from the '70s, as well as a repro from Staunton Castle. I would love to get her an original one as pictured, but I havenβt come across one for an affordable price. Probably never will, to be fair.

The 'Cadbury cads' joke I stole from a friend just now. They said they will never be better than that joke.
I figured I would steal it so people think that Iβm the one who peaked early in life.
Haha such a weird theft alert in my region. Two women have stolen thousands of dollars worth of chocolate!
Those utter Cadbury cads. π
Cat-eye bokeh. ;)
I snapped some pictures of Eiki chilling in his basketβusing the Japanese Super-Takumar 50mm Ζ/1.4.
Fittingly, βEikiβ is Japanese for βglitterβ, in reference to his glitter gene, which leaves the tips of his fur shimmering when they catch the light.
Triplet-5 100mm Ζ/2.8
I decided to give this ridiculous Soviet Cooke Triplet projection lens a try againβon a 25-55 mm helicoid for closer focusing.
Itβs not a sharp lens, but it does have pretty nice Trioplan-like bubble bokeh with sharp (and colorful) outlining.
My friend said that their partner (who refuses to look for a job) considers himself a breadwinner now that he paid for 5% of the household with his social benefits and a minor gig.
I think he should rather call himself a crumbwinner. π€
Iβm super pleased with how this photo turned out! Of all the images I captured at the Toronto Orchid Show, my favorite wasnβt of an orchid at allβbut of dried lilac suspended along the hallway ceiling where we were queued before entering the first exhibit room.

This 19th-century Iranian ox-headed mace is hilarious. The nostrils and ears are hollow, so it emits an owl-like hoot when you swing it!
Imagine an army wielding these things, with every strike accompanied by a *hoot*, followed by a resounding *CLANG* as it smashes into their opponents. π€
