I discovered this artist on X awhile back and instantly bookmarked their work. Glad to finally purchase the last Danio rerio singlet in stock and will report back on the quality!

Molecular basis for de novo thymus regeneration in a vertebrate, the axolotl The molecular, cellular, and functional restoration of the axolotl thymus after de novo regeneration is described.

Can't believe my postdoc paper is finally out. Christmas came early this year, holy moly πŸŽ„

#KnowYourZDM was my (albeit failed) attempt at a collaboration with ZDMS. As a result of my insistence that @zebrafishrock.bsky.social be a pan-zebrafish society forum, most of the societies stay clear of us. 🀷

Here’s the first day. Could use ALT text but no AI. We shouldn’t discount the whole series yet bsky.app/profile/socd...

The way you are going about this is not OK

I find this to be really fun! AI or not. They have obviously put a lot of effort into each post every day (which definitely don't contain AI). Put down your pitchforks

If it is AI (which fooled me), it's for a promotional piece for a fun holiday series that they obviously put a lot of effort into generating each post (which don't contain AI). This piece doesn't really have any serious flaws as they are highly stylized. Surely, there must be times when this is OK

I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t met a lot of the #zebrafish community in-person. When I do, I often feel like I’ve known them for ages (while trying not to sound creepy for following them online πŸ˜…). Social media makes networking so much easier, even if I’ve only e-met people.

Here’s the selfie!! πŸ˜‚ It was lovely to meet Kirsten and hear about her personal journey through science (and around the world), in addition to some cool #zebrafish data on hepatocellular carcinomas!

I previously had a targeted ad on Instagram and nearly spent money on a (what I thought was a legitimate) Lego gift bag before it redirected me to a random website to send money to a sketchy account. Their ads are notoriously suspect!

I encourage puns but not using acronyms stems from my retail days. No one understands them without context, which is difficult to do in a short intro post.

Some of it stems from the Cloudflare issues from the last week. But yes it’s awfully slow to load (if it does).

If I had a do’s and dont’s of social media publication announcements, this first post (of a longer thread) would tick all the positive boxes!

βœ… Working link to paper
βœ… Acknowledge first-author with correct handle
βœ… Introduce the most important finding
βœ… Thread counter (eg 1/n)
βœ… No cheesy acronyms

I used to get imposter syndrome when sharing other people’s stuff for #ZebrafishZunday. I got over it by thinking that if more people (whether it be a friend, family member or even a grant reviewer) see an awesome image and think zebrafish are cool, it collectively makes our lives/research easier.

Some interactions I’ve had since returning make me remember why I retired it. I do all of this in my free time. At this point, it’s half β€œI deeply care about community” and half β€œI do this out of spite”. Some days it’s one or the other.
