Don't get me wrong, the fact that IFS has popularized ego state models is great, because they have so much to offer anyone who's got /any/ unresolved material living in their feelings basement (hint; that's most of us)

Just make sure you've got the right support if you're here-&-now-spicy is all ^^

It basically took ego state models that were developed for helping people with Dissociative Identity Disorder / Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (DID / OSDD)...

... and made it more friendly to people who had "normal development", for dealing with smaller chunks of past unresolved material

I'd love to replay it & write something on it - feel like I've read a bunch of half-baked, poorly informed articles on the topic, and it'd be a really good teaching tool (and thing to explore for my own interest / benefit)

... but that might just be me misremembering from the player's perspective, where you can neatly see this well organized system on a page, where everyone has a known role, and Harry hears & talks to everyone

His experience, I'll grant you, often feels a lot more chaotic and uninformed xD

Disco Elysium is a really neat way of explaining Internal Family Systems therapy to people

It's also kind of inherently triggering if you experience life through the lens of C-PTSD and dissociation - because like IFS, assumes, Harry seems able to recognize the difference between parts and self xD
