covid protocols or not, not having physical sets in S13 was an insane choice and made the whole thing look artificial in a way that even the KTMA era doesn't. you can maintain distance and still have sets! i'd rather they film the mads in a dressed-up broom closet than superimposed on a PNG

nu-mst3k has half these issues, but also its own problems, like going all-greenscreen, resulting in losing the "motivated camera" and... pretty much any cinematography at all. the sudden crow replacement voicing jokes that don't fit the new style. and an overall lack of chemistry of host/mads/bots

but if you want the cliffs notes: homogenized writing styles, over-rehearsed and over-performed, the incessant need for 'bits', overly mean-spirited, focused too much on filmmaking errors, not willing to play in the fiction and have fun with the characters of the films (S13 MST3K got better at this)

this is just one of the five thousand issues i have with rifftrax and modern mst3k, of which i might do a video at some point

hey why is every Rifftrax joke like 20 seconds long instead of five words. how did they forget that brevity is the soul of wit when their role on MST3K was to literally fit tiny jokes into tiny spaces

i have neither the 3D experience nor a system that won't overheat like a motherfucker trying to handle it. pngtuber plus made my laptop shut off and i had to use a lower resource pngtuber program

it might come during the stream tomorrow, so it probably won't be incorporated until Friday

Alright, I ordered a cheap mic arm in hopes that that will fix some of the audio issues, by basically allowing me to shove the microphone directly into my eyeballs regardless of whether i'm at the desktop or at the console/MacMini station

I'm a little frustrated at how OBS mangles my microphone compared to Audacity, but hopefully I will eventually find the right settings to make it not sound like garbage. This time the noise gating was too aggressive, but even after fixing that post-stream, it still sounds like a 32kbps mp3 from 2004

among the anime i'm debating reviewing: Figure 17, Raven of the Inner Palace, RideBack, Under Ninja, Tasokare Hotel. i'll watch an episode of each tomorrow and then make the call

but the other streams should be 12-4PM as usual. I'm sick today, so i'm going to get some extra rest, and then I have an appointment in the late afternoon as well. I haven't decided on what anime to review yet-- yes, this means a bit of crunch time this week, but I'll be alright

the goal this week is to stream Crow Country and The Crimson Diamond on Twitch, and possibly put an anime review out by the end of the week (Friday or Saturday), and possibly get the Cursed Tour of my Flash Files in the Patreon shop. Tomorrow I am gonna move my stream to the evening (6-10PM)

having just played a bit of copper odyssey 2, that deserves a larger audience for sure. final profit is great too, and elephantasy flipside is for a very specific kind of puzzle freak (though i'm stumped on how to get further in it)
