Special thanks to the team and to @sidpharm.bsky.social for the generous funding and supporting my vision.

CDC/NHSN 2008: some of the changes since '08 may not have affected this specific study design, but I like the idea of evaluating that and incorporating pertinent changes moving forward.

I'm not convinced, but I certainly love the discussion around it :)

96 hours: extended from the usual 48-72h of continuous therapy. The decision was based on some previous data where steno PNA documented as colonization still received 72 h of therapy. An extra inclusion layer we tried. Could have missed some acute cases. It did align with our population.

Zero expectations for this one. I was brand new to the institution (and state) when I designed it, so dx and tx approaches were foreign to me. I do question whether (or how much) a concomitant bacteria (PA mostly) would've affected the cx/tx decisions for steno.

You bring up an excellent point. It's a necessary evaluation and I hope that someone does it! Consideration of non-infectious disease states as well.

This publication is different.

I began it 3 months postpartum, when my mind and body felt unfamiliar. Slowly, I found joy in writing again.

Seeing it published as an Editorโ€™s Choice is deeply meaningful.

Grateful to the Kunz Coyne Lab for their support!
