Albuquerque’s Mayor Said Arrests Were “Not the Solution” to Homelessness. Yet Jail Bookings Have Skyrocketed. Under Tim Keller’s leadership, the city has increasingly criminalized conduct associated with homelessness, causing a growing number of people on the streets to be arrested and jailed.

NEW: During his reelection campaign last fall, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller said you can’t “arrest your way” out of homelessness.

But a ProPublica analysis found that under Keller, the city has increasingly jailed homeless people.

In Albuquerque, you can go to the monthly Friends of the Library book sale and get cheap DVDs, CDs, and vinyl records! There’s also slightly-less-cheap DVD Plus at the corner of Candelaria and Eubank, NE. I’ve seen DVDs at several thrift shops in town.

There was a group of men just west of the VA hospital in ABQ today protesting US arming Israel & supporting their war. No pic, as I was driving. But kudos to them!

Nonpartisan race, but Republican Gregg Hull (the one running for governor) has been mayor since 2014.
