she is an extremely admirable and badass character that is hard to dislike, but that doesn't translate well into marketability for goods unfortunately. her value as a character and her value as merch are two completely separate things that I don't think the EN speaking fandom can differentiate 😅

the folks who show up to events and buy goods are consistently the adult women with income to spare and are, more often than not, fans of the ikemen and the main chara. that's all there is to it. Naoya's popularity for his face and meme-ability is what earned him that slot on in art and goods

I think what people fail to realise is that these official art releases are previews for goods that people are expected to buy....this isn't a "this chara hasn't gotten featured lately, let's put them in" type of situation. the chara who get featured at the ones expected to make money.

the fact of the matter is that Maki does not make money for koushiki the same way the boys do. she and Panda basically get relegated to filler slots for group chara goods all the time. their goods just sit there. no one wants them, no one trades them.

I hope he can rest easy knowing KyoAni's still in good hands...I have high hopes his son will continue his father's legacy and uphold his most cherished values in how KyoAni treated its work and employees 🥺

for every complaint that comes after a new Naoya official art release, he gets 3 more goods announcements. like I don't understand what is not clicking with these people. he makes more money in Japan, so he keeps getting included in goods and art. it's not difficult to understand how this works

I’m heartbroken at his passing….since the very beginning, he was the one to build the foundation of all of KyoAni’s values

I see this happen quite often in the fandom unfortunately lol people are bad at letting go

all of this is just to say that Yuuji could have fixed all three of them 🤪 that boy’s light could help anyone and their trauma

and 🚗 was fortunate enough to have Yuuji’s light shine a way forward for him after everything

if anything I feel like 🚗 should have been compared to 7️⃣ more than 🏖️ lol they all went through disillusionment and broken faith, but 🚗 and 7️⃣ chose to stand with their nakama and face the light again, to bear the burden of grasping the hands that reached for them, rather than cast them away.

🚗 choice to help others never stemmed from a sense of superiority, so his faith was never in himself. it was in the light of truth and the flawed justice system that ultimately let to his disillusionment. it was Yuuji’s brightness that made him face the light again. he never saw himself as the light

the 🚗 and 🏖️ comparisons after this week’s JJK episode are frying me cause the comparisons I saw don’t bother moving past the “lost faith in humanity and descended into darkness” point and feels superficial—their ideologies and source of their motivations were so different
