The head of the FDA tells us they're taking a look at the dietary guidelines and that the food pyramid is out.

The food pyramid has not been in use since 2011 when MyPlate replaced it.

Since a friend is currently hospitalized, it's a good time to note that, as of February 8, 2025, the CDC estimated that in this influenza season there have been at least 29 million cases, 370,000 hospitalizations, and 16,000 deaths (including 68 children) *from flu*. Not too late to get a vax.

While my doula brain wonders how to say I [advocate] for [pregnant] and [birthing] [people], including [women] without using any now verboten words (which reminds me of the old "tell me what you do without telling me what you do" posts), my historian brain is having a kid in a candy store moment.

I don't recall any pat downs. I didn't need any clear bags or concern about many toiletries I could bring. I never carried a water bottle or brought my own food on a plane. Everyone had to watch the same movie (assuming there was any in-flight entertainment) from a small screen way up the front.
