Sorry Peter, I can't see that at all. It's not a both-sides discussion in that way. It's talking with friends on the other side about what they actually think. Will they help us? What can they do?

This discussion isn't about how to make it work in a way we could get behind. Or just let them take Alberta, or appeasement in any way. It's about what can we do to stop it? Who can we call on for help? How do we resist?

I don't understand the anger here. He's creating a forum for Canadians to call and let a prominent US host (I've never heard of him though, lol) know what about it annoys us. As there is a small but vocal minority who actually support this, why wouldn't we want to discuss it?

All the evidence is that the Canadian government actually did quite a good job weathering wild economic conditions, and the fact that critics can mostly only point to GDP per capita artificially deflated by a spike in temp. immigration numbers only reinforces that conclusion.

A big part of the answer here is the Internet. We've decided everyone gets to live in their own little reality. We've abandoned any sense of shared sources of news, facts, and truth. Conspiracy theories are no longer fringe. Truth is no longer valued. And I'm not sure anyone knows how to fix this.

Because however morally questionable many American leaders have always been, the system tended not to skew towards electing the absolute dumbest people in the country to public office. Now being a know-nothing hateful idiot is the easiest path to power.
