Since Christmas, my father has asked for small comfort of having our picture with him in cell. Yet, once again his request was heartlessly denied. Simple paper, a connection to keep him from feeling utterly alone, is deemed too much by the rigid authorities of the detention center.

Despite the joy Grandma felt in July when she briefly reunited with her son after all these years, now she finds herself shedding tears every day, utterly alone on her special day.

Today marks Grandma's birthday, yet the court once more cruelly denied Dad the right to receive the medical care he desperately needs. Dad had to come back because Grandma's health has taken a turn for the worse.
