Whereas here, not only is empathy not taught in school, it's actively demonized by our political leadership. Literally, people are being told that empathy is the devil's way of tricking good people into doing bad things, and should be condemned and rejected as being wicked and deceitful.

I literally can't process what the hell goes through someone's mind when they decide that child rape is not a deal breaker. How is it not literally the ultimate deal breaker? Should that not be the ONE thing that EVERYONE agrees is beyond the pale?
