Alternate timeline story where the Nazis never existed, so no one knows how to smear their political enemies, and we all live in peace.
Like "The Invention of Lying," but no one invents the Nazis??

You can get candy at my house tonight...if you can arrive before I eat it all
31.10.2025 20:15 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0I'm sorry to report that my wife is a "soft white" (a.k.a. yellow) light bulb enjoyer. She prefers everything have a jaundiced glow. :(
25.10.2025 01:32 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0Love this! Love the ridiculously nerdy detail. Love the obsessive problem solving. Love the mind bending philosophical import of it all.

If you receive a large blood transfusion how long do you have to wait for it to become "your" blood? If they did a blood test would it show antibodies from the donor?

20.10.2025 22:30 â ð 1 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0There's some irony here. Teachers simultaneously want the best for their students, but also want similar low standards for themselves archive.ph/akoYI

You (while doing the thing): Doing the thing is evil
Me: But you're doing the thing
You: It's not evil when my in-group does it
Seriously...the only social network I want is the one where library catalog search results have an "Introduce us" button next to items that are already checked out.
14.10.2025 02:19 â ð 1 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0When I search for an obscure book at the library and find it is already checked out I'm like "who is this person? we should be friends!"
14.10.2025 02:19 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 1 ð 0I recently realized that Liz from Magic School Bus, is short for "lizard." This might seem astoundingly obvious to you, but I'm reminded of "Obvious to you. Amazing to Others." (sive.rs/obvious)
It made me wonder what I don't share because it seems too obvious...
Me: You have to do the thing.
You (while doing the thing): See, the problem with your view is you believe we have to do the thing.
This seems right.

29.09.2025 01:32 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0It's actually a Canadian show, but I didn't say United States of America, right? :)
02.09.2025 01:23 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0I think of it like the American version of Slow TV
01.09.2025 20:52 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 1 ð 0"How It's Made" is basically educational TV, right?
01.09.2025 20:51 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 1 ð 0Monday night tradition: I fold laundry while my youngest kids and I watch "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!", but our HDTV antenna has stopped receiving that station, so now we just watch "How It's Made" on the Roku channel.

29.08.2025 09:43 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0I'm finding that I enjoy short story audio. They pack a punch, and my listening is fragmented so I have less context to try to reconstruct between sessions.
21.08.2025 10:19 â ð 1 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0Just recently read "The Cold Equations" by Tom Godwin and "Fondly Fahrenheit" by Alfred Bester and enjoyed them both.*
* by "read" I mean I listened to them in _The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Vol. 1_ collection, if you want to be pedantic
Anyone know any good post-software job options?
21.08.2025 10:09 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0I scored 11/21 on e-mail.wtf and all I got was this lousy text to share on social media.
21.08.2025 10:09 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 1 ð 0I have opinions and often want to blog or tweet or start a newsletter, but I really want to drink beers with my buddies where the context doesn't collapse all over me.
I think more people should just hang out in real spaces with friends. Where your words dissipate at the boundaries of the room.

22.07.2025 10:54 â ð 0 ð 0 ðŽ 0 ð 0Anyway, here's an article about how building out AI is summoning demonic powers:

I believe a more useful angle than Lovecraft/_That Hideous Strength_ is that man is creating a god in his own image and idolatry "goes back a long way," as they say.
