True in much of the Neotropics, but def not the case in many other contexts and geographies. A lot of lands are losing considerable c storage thru chronic forest degradation alone.

It is a major contributing factor, depending on region and landscapes in question. Look at Canada for example, a huge piece of the equation.

From what I've seen, it's a mixed bag. Many forest types are being increasingly stressed by higher CO2 and experiencing higher tree mortality/ slower growth than under lower CO2, so the effect is very context dependent.

And we should be putting specific focus on safeguarding primary forests to max extent possible, bc they are the largest and often most vulnerable terrestrial c stores (and still being lost at very high rates almost everywhere.)
